Tonal Memory Trainer app good for
Hope it finds enough users. On my personal wish list:
- tilt screen for entire keyboard in one line
- option to practice on a fixed level (without automatically moving up or down a level)
- option to increase practice time, and perhaps practice without scoring points as well
Thanks for this most valuable app!
I purchased quite a few of these ear training apps. This one so far is my favorite. Its a fast action game, which simply teaches you to identify each note. I did well and was promoted to the next level. That was good. But it was even better that when I did bad, I was demoted to a lower level. Once I get this app down, then maybe the others will be less impossible.
Everyone is at a different level with these things. This app happens to suit me perfectly. At first it bothered me that I couldnt tell it what to do. It advances or demotes you based on your speed and accuracy as you actually listen and respond. First I thought I knew better than the programmer - now that I think of it, without realizing it, thats exactly what I was thinking. Then I thought - what if there is an intelligent programmer on the other side of this? So I just let it keep pushing up the level until I felt sure it was going to demote me. But I guess that there is a difference in what it considers worthy of advancement and what I would have. I thought I needed total mastery of each level. Actually, after a few minutes I stopped fighting it and I simply pushed the key that seemed to correspond, somehow, to what was being played. And before I knew it, I was correct on a very high percentage of them with almost no conscious analysis. And that was my goal in the first place. So I think that Ill let myself play this "game" for a while. I also happen to really like the clean, almost understated, yet cool interface. The app behaves flawlessly on the iPhone4. For the person that this app is right for, it is actually a fabulous little tool. People used to actually need a partner to do something even this elementary. One of the few apps out of almost two hundred that I think Ill actually use.
Just what I needed. Most ear training apps lack the indivdual tone practice. My relative pitch is great. I need to work on my perfect pitch and this app dose it. However it would be a plus if you can choose the level and redo them as often as you want before you go to the next level. Please add that in your upgrade. I will rate it a 5 than.
Good interface, does away with the clutter I found in others. Could use more than one octave of sounds, maybe for advanced mode. No need for more than one octave of keys.
Some bad moments
Tells which note was previously correct so it lets you guess the next note relatively instead of perfectly. Bad purchase.
App has no reset. I did use it once to know how to use it and then give it to my daughter, now she has to star in level 7.
Ridiculous!
This app is awful. No reset and costs WAYYY too much for what it gives you
